Chocolate Chip Cookie in a Jar
This "Cookies in a Jar" gift is a fun and thoughtful way to share homemade cookies! Just add butter, eggs, and vanilla when you're ready to bake.

Ingredients

all-purpose flour

baking soda

brown sugar

granulated sugar

Instructions
Layering Instructions:
In a clean 1-quart mason jar, layer the ingredients in the following order:
Flour and then the baking soda and the salt. You can use the back of a spoon to back it in slightly.
Brown sugar (pack it down slightly)
Granulated sugar
Chocolate chips on top
Seal the jar with a tight-fitting lid. Attach a tag with baking instructions.
Baking Instructions (Include with the Jar)
You’ll Need:
½ cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, cream butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Add the contents of the jar and mix until combined.
Scoop 1½-inch balls of dough onto the baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are golden brown.
Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Notes
You can use
any kind of chocolate chips
you like or a mix of chocolate chips even.
You can swap the chocolate chips (all or part of them) for M&M's or seasonal M&M's for a festive touch!
These make a great gift and are
shelf stable for 3-4 months
.
You can cut fabric or ribbons to decorate the top of the jar if you'd like.
