Use a spatula or wooden spoon to bread up the ground beef in a large pan and add the garlic powder and minced onion. Cook your ground beef over medium-high heat for about 7 minutes, or until the beef is fully cooked.
Once the beef is fully cooked, add the tomato paste and tomato sauce. Stir to combine. Add spices. Allow the chili to cook over medium heat for an additional 10 minutes.
Cook your hot dogs according to the package directions.
Place a hotdog on each bun and spoon the chili over your hotdogs.
Top your chili dogs with your favorite hot dog fixings and enjoy!
Notes
You can store your leftover chili in the fridge for up to 5 days in an airtight container. Reheat a single serving of chili in the microwave for about 45 seconds, stirring halfway through. You can reheat all of your chili on the stovetop over medium heat until warm.
The tomato paste amplifies the sweet tomato flavor and helps thicken the chili a little bit.
If you have fresh cloves of garlic then you can use 2 cloves of freshly minced garlic instead of garlic powder.
We usually use 90/10 or 93/7 ground beef in this recipe, but you can use ground beef with any fat percentage.
If you want to amplify the onion flavor in your chili then you can use ¼ of a white onion finely chopped instead of dried minced onion.
