These Carne Asada Fries feature an array of flavor-packed ingredients! The perfectly seasoned steak, gooey cheese, and delicious toppings come together to create the perfect appetizer or entree.
Add your steak, lime juice, olive oil, red pepper flakes, onion powder, and garlic powder to a large Ziploc bag. Give the bag a quick shake to evenly coat the steak and place it in the fridge to marinate for 30 minutes.
After marinating the steak, cook it in a pan over medium-high heat for about 8 minutes, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 160°F.
While the carne asada is cooking, cook your fries in the air fryer according to the package directions.
Once the carne asada is done cooking, slice it into thin strips. Place your fries in a large skillet and top them with the carne asada and cheese. Broil the skillet on high for 3-5 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly.
Top your fries with sour cream, guacamole, and pico de gallo.
Serve and enjoy!
Notes
We like to cook our French fries in the air fryer to get more of a crisp and cut down on the prep time for this dish. However, you can cook your fries in the oven as well.
You can use French, steak, crinkle, or waffle cut fries in this recipe. You can also use sweet potato fries if you’d like.
The longer you let your steak sit in the marinade, the more flavorful it will be. We recommend letting your steak sit for a minimum of 30 minutes. When you have extra time, let your steak sit for 2 hours to soak up as much flavor as possible.
Other toppings you can use include chipotle sauce, Tabasco sauce, freshly chopped cilantro, chopped black olives, etc.
For a little extra spice you can use pepper jack cheese.
