My 2 Best Tips For Making Slow Cooker Recipes For Spring

  1. Lighten Your Favorite Recipes: When I have a cold weather favorite Crock-Pot recipe, I will sometimes still crave it in the early Spring, but I look for ways to “lighten” it up! Think substituting lighter Spring veggies for heavy root vegetables; adding fresh herbs, lemon, or vinegar at the end for brightness; and creating lighter broths instead of thick sauces.
  2. Foolproof Method For Bright Flavors: This isn’t just for slow cooker recipes you’re making in Spring but for all year — brightening up flavors of a meal with super simple ingredients! Here are my go-to methods when I feel a dish needs a bit of a flavor boost: Add acid (lemon juice or vinegar) after cooking to enhance flavors; stir in fresh herbs just before serving (don’t cook them very long if at all!); and a touch of honey can balance flavors when you need just a bit of sweetness.

Do you have favorite dishes you like to make in the slow cooker each season? I’m definitely a seasonal cook!

Spring means more outdoor activities and events, and slow cooker meals provide flexibility while you enjoy the season. Coming home to ready-made meals after gardening, sports, or outings is so luxurious!

I like to transition from hearty winter meals to fresher spring flavors by using seasonal spring vegetables and lighter sauces.

And I absolutely love making the most of the spring garden goodies!

I tend to just swap out veggies in a recipe with whatever is in season, and for spring that tends to be asparagus, peas, leeks, artichokes, and fresh herbs
