Garlic Parmesan Wings

One of the best things about this recipe is that you can have a platter full of piping hot wings ready to be enjoyed in less than 30 minutes. Cooking your garlic parmesan wings in the air fryer allows for the skin of the wings to crisp without making the chicken tough. These wings really do strike the perfect balance between crispy, juicy, meaty, rich, and salty!

Ingredient Notes

  • Chicken Wings—I prefer drumettes, but you can also use wingettes.
  • Parmesan Cheese—Freshly grated will give these wings a sharp, but creamy flavor.
  • Vegetable Oil—To help the seasoning stick to the wings. Also gives the chicken a crispy exterior.
  • Garlic Powder—Or a few cloves of freshly minced garlic.
  • Salt—Finely ground.

How to Make Air Fryer Garlic Parmesan Wings

Frequently Asked Questions

What does garlic parmesan taste like?

Imagine your favorite garlic bread seasoning on a juicy, golden chicken wing. With each bite, you taste the unmistakable flavor of garlic balanced out by the sharpness of the parmesan. There’s a reason that this addictive wing flavor is a classic!

Are wings better in the oven or air fryer?

When cooking homemade chicken wings in the air fryer, you will find that they tend to come out crispier than oven-baked wings. However, if you don’t have an air fryer, baking your parmesan garlic wings in the oven is still a good option. Although they’ll be a little less crispy, the wings will still taste wonderful.

Why are my air fryer wings soggy?

There can be a few reasons that your wings are coming out soggy from the air fryer. First, the wings may have been wet or damp. Make sure the wings are completely dry before you add the oil and seasonings. Second, you might have put too many wings in the air fryer basket at once, making it more difficult for the heat to circulate and cook the chicken evenly.

How to Make Garlic Parmesan Wings in the Oven

If you don’t have an air fryer, don’t worry! You can still enjoy these tasty wings in the oven.

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F.
  2. Prepare the chicken wings as normal, tossing them in the oil, parmesan, garlic, and salt.
  3. Place the wings on a baking sheet lined with tin foil; make sure they’re evenly spaced.
  4. Bake for 20 minutes, flip the wings over, and finish baking for an additional 15 minutes.
  5. Serve and enjoy!

How to Serve and Store Super Crispy Garlic Parmesan Wings

If you want to prepare the wings before you cook them, they can stay uncooked in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Once cooked, you can store these wings in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. When you are ready to eat them again, simply reheat them in the air fryer or microwave until warm!

These garlic parmesan wings are great as an entrée or as an appetizer for game day! Garnish them with an extra sprinkling of parmesan cheese or some fresh chopped parsley for an elegant look. Alternatively, you can serve them with some ranch or blue cheese dressing for a bit of added moisture and creaminess. These air fryer garlic parmesan wings are a bit of a messy finger food, so be sure to have plenty of napkins on hand!

Expert Tips and Tricks

  • About halfway through cooking the wings, flip them over to ensure that all sides are cooked evenly and crisp all the way around.
  • The vegetable oil is what gives these wings their golden-brown color. If you don’t have vegetable oil, you can also use avocado or olive oil.
  • You’ll know that your crispy garlic parmesan wings are done cooking when a thermometer inserted into the center of one reads 165°F.
