French Bread Pizza makes the perfect quick and easy meal, game day food, or a party snack. This pizza is super kid friendly but adults will devour it too. Plus, it’s totally customizable to your individual pizza preferences. My kids love when they can pick their own toppings and I love it because everyone is happy – no fights or comprises.

You will never believe how easy it is to whip this pizza up. You just grab store bought French bread and then cut it in half lengthwise, quickly crisp up the bread up in the oven, and, finally, add your favorite pizza sauce and all of your favorite pizza toppings, toast it for a few minutes, and enjoy!

Recipe FAQs

Will a crusty baguette work for French bread pizza?

To make French bread pizza you will want to buy a soft loaf of French bread. Baguettes tend to be too crispy for making pizza.

How to I avoid the French bread getting soggy?

No one likes soggy pizza. My tip to avoid this is to spread butter on the French bread and bake for a few minutes. This will get the top lightly crispy so you can avoid all sogginess. Don’t miss this step!

What are the best pizza toppings?

This is all a matter of personal opinion but here are some of the most popular pizza toppings out there: pepperoni, chicken, sausage, mushrooms, olives, peppers, onions, artichokes, ham, and pineapple.

Expert Tips

  • Spread the sauce evenly over the bread so that there is the same amount of flavor in every bite.
  • Don’t overload the pizza with toppings – the more kinds of toppings you’re going to put on, the less of each one you need. Think of it this way – if the pizza you’re making only has room for 1 cup of toppings so if you’re just adding cheese and 1 topping, then you can use 1 cup of that topping but if you’re adding 2 toppings, then only use 1/2 cup of each one.
  • Mozzarella is traditional for pizza but most pizza places use a cheese blend so feel free to mix it up a little bit and use a combo of cheeses that melt well. Mozzarella, cheddar, and Parmesan are a classic combination.
