Recipe Instructions

  1. Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium to medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until it’s no longer pink and cooked through, breaking it up as it cooks for about 5 minutes.
  2. Add Garlic and Tomatoes: To the cooked beef, add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, around 1 minute. Then, add the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and fill the empty tomato sauce can with water. Pour the water into the skillet as well.
  3. Season the Sauce: Stir in the parsley, basil, oregano, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and pepper.
  4. Simmer and Serve: Bring the mixture to a light simmer and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed. Finally, serve the sauce over your favorite pasta.

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes, (28 ounce)
  • 1 can Tomato sauce, (8 ounce)
  • 2 teaspoons dried parsley
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 pound cooked pasta for serving

  • In a large skillet over medium to medium high heat, cook the hamburger until it is no longer pink and is cooked through, breaking it up as it cooks, about 5 minutes.

  • You can use sausage or even ground turkey in place of the ground beef in this recipe.
  • You can omit the meat in this recipe and make a meatless sauce. I often make this sauce meatless and use it for a marinara sauce for pizza and calzones.
  • You can adjust the thickness of this sauce with a little water. Just add a little water if it got thicker than you like, it’s typically a pretty thick sauce.
