Recipe FAQs
We usually use chicken breast just because it is so readily available. That being said, you are welcome to use whatever kind of chicken you have on hand. Oftentimes we will use leftover rotisserie chicken if we have any from a previous meal. This is a great way to cut down on your prep and cook time!
Of course! The main purpose of the broth is to infuse the noodles with flavor so they add some depth to the dish. Using vegetable broth will decrease the savory flavor of the dish just a tad, but you are more than welcome to use it!
Unfortunately this is not a dish that freezes very well. Freezing your leftovers causes the noodles to dry out too much when they are reheated. However, this dish is so good we don’t anticipate you will have very many leftovers to worry about!
Expert Tips
- This chicken spaghetti can be easily adapted for your spice tolerance. The recipe as it is does not have any heat, but you can add red pepper flakes, cayenne chili powder, or chipotle chili powder if you want some heat in your dish.
- Other spices you can add to this dish include Italian seasoning and dried minced onion. You are welcome to add extra salt once the dish is prepared, but we feel like between the cream of chicken soup and chicken broth you don’t really need any.
- We prefer the flavor of sharp cheddar cheese, but you are welcome to use mild and medium cheese as well. You can also use pepper jack cheese to add some heat to the dish.
- Freshly shredded cheese will melt the best.
- If you do not have smoked paprika you are welcome to use regular paprika.
What Goes Well with Chicken Spaghetti?
As we mentioned earlier, this dish can definitely hold its own as a stand-alone entree. The richness and creaminess of the dish make it quite filling. That being said, we like to contrast the richness of the chicken spaghetti with a light, nutritious side salad.
You can also serve your chicken spaghetti alongside some sauteed, roasted, or air fried veggies. If you like a little more heat in your chicken you can sprinkle your spaghetti with a pinch of red pepper flakes or even add a few drops of tabasco sauce to the dish as you are folding all of the ingredients together.
How to Store and Reheat Chicken Spaghetti
You can store any leftover chicken spaghetti in the fridge for up to 4 days when it is kept in an airtight container. You can easily reheat your leftovers by placing a single serving in a bowl and covering the bowl with a paper towel or paper plate. Reheat your leftovers for about a minute, stopping halfway through to stir the leftovers.

Chicken Spaghetti
Ingredients
- 1 ½ pounds chicken breast, diced
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 12 ounces spaghetti noodles
- 3 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup cream of chicken soup
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- Heat the olive oil in a medium sized pan over medium-high heat. After the oil has had a minute or two to heat up, add the diced chicken, smoked paprika, and garlic powder. Cook your chicken over medium heat for 7-10 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked all the way through.
- While the chicken is cooking, bring the chicken broth to a boil in a pot. Once the broth is boiling, add the spaghetti and cook until the spaghetti is fully cooked. The spaghetti will soak up most of the chicken broth.
- Add your cooked spaghetti to an 8×8 inch baking dish along with the cream of chicken soup, chicken, and half of the cheddar cheese. Fold the ingredients together to evenly distribute everything.
- Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top of the dish. Cook the casserole in the oven for 35 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Notes
- You can store your leftover chicken spaghetti in the fridge for up to 4 days. Your spaghetti can be easily reheated by placing a single serving in a bowl and covering it with a paper towel or paper plate. Reheat your leftovers for about a minute in the microwave.
- This chicken spaghetti can be easily adapted depending on your spice tolerance.
- The recipe as is does not have any heat, but you can add red pepper flakes, cayenne chili powder, or tabasco sauce to the dish for some extra heat.
- Other spices that you can add to this dish include Italian seasoning and dried minced onion. You are welcome to salt and pepper this dish to taste after it is prepared; however we feel like there is more than enough salt between the chicken broth and cream of chicken soup.
- We prefer the sharp flavor of sharp cheddar cheese, but you can also use mild or medium cheddar cheese.
- To cut down on your prep time, you can grab a rotisserie chicken and use shredded rotisserie chicken instead of diced chicken. Simply toss the shredded chicken in garlic powder and paprika.
- If you do not have any smoked paprika, you can use regular paprika. Smoked paprika helps add some extra flavor depth to the dish.
