Recipe FAQs

What are the benefits of drinking celery juice?

According to healthline.com, drinking celery juice is very good for you! Although it may not be the miracle drink that some claim it to be, celery juice is packed with nutrients and antioxidants that help to lower inflammation in the body. Celery juice is also known to be very hydrating due to its high water content. However, celery juice is relatively high in sodium and low in fiber, meaning that this juice won’t necessarily support your gut function or keep you full for very long. Should you drink celery juice in the morning or at night?

The experts at cleanjuice.com say that it’s best to drink celery juice first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. This allows your body to quickly and easily absorb all the nutrients offered by the juice. (https://www.cleanjuice.com/celery-juice-benefits/) However, I find that squeezing in a glass of celery juice anytime throughout the day is better than not drinking it at all!

How many times a week should you drink celery juice?

Most people recommend that if you’re going to add celery juice to your diet, you should be drinking it every day. According to cleanjuice.com, “the best way to enjoy maximum benefits from your celery juice consumption is to start each day with around 16 ounces of fresh celery juice.” (https://www.cleanjuice.com/celery-juice-benefits/) It’s always a good idea to consistently give your body the nutrients it needs to function properly!

How to Serve and Store Homemade Celery Juice

I like to kick start my day with a glass of this nutrient-dense celery juice. It’s not the tastiest thing, but when you pair this homemade juice with other breakfast staples such as eggs, homemade yogurt, an easy breakfast sandwich or a protein shake, it makes for a filling breakfast! Not a huge fan of breakfast? Enjoy this hydrating and refreshing juice after an afternoon workout or evening walk.

I typically make this homemade celery juice in big batches and store it in a pitcher in my fridge. When stored properly, this juice will stay fresh for up to 1 week. The next time you want to add some extra veggies to your diet, pull out your pitcher of leftover celery juice and pour yourself a glass.

Expert Tips

  • I find that each one-pound bunch of celery makes about 24 ounces of celery juice. You can half, double, or triple the recipe as needed!
  • Want to ease yourself into drinking this celery juice? Add some flavor by mixing in some agave and lemon or lime juice. Then, as you get used to the natural bitterness, you can omit the sweetener and citrus.
  • Depending on how powerful your blender is, your celery juice might be very pulpy. This is why it’s important to strain the juice through a cheesecloth or sieve. Don’t hesitate to strain the juice two or three times if needed.
