I am always looking for bright and bold dishes, and pizza is exactly that! The ingredients in this dish work together to give you a bright yet hearty meal. This buffalo chicken pizza is simple, easy to make, satisfying, and full of flavor!I love to make this on a day where I have leftover chicken in the fridge because it can be ready in just about 20 minutes.

The crispy crust topped with zesty Buffalo sauce cheese, and chicken is one of the best flavor combinations and will leave you wanting more every time. If you want to cool down the pizza a little, you can drizzle some ranch or blue cheese on top to balance the heat of the Buffalo sauce. Everytime I make this pizza it is always a big hit, so you probably shouldn’t be expecting leftovers!

Recipe FAQs

Should I cook the chicken before putting it on the pizza?

Yes. There are different ways you can cook your chicken including boiling, poaching, baking it in a dish in the oven, or placing it in a slow cooker. Once the chicken has reached the ideal internal temperature, you can remove and shred it to prepare for the pizza. The quickest and easiest way that I have found to shred chicken is by using an electric hand mixer. Place the cooked chicken in a bowl and use the beater attachments to shred the chicken on medium speed. This will give you the easiest shredded chicken in no time!

How can I prevent the pizza dough from bubbling up while cooking?

If you’ve made pizza at home before, you know that the dough will sometimes form bubbles or pockets of air while it cooks. The best way to prevent this is by using a fork to poke a few holes around the pizza dough before you start assembling. Be careful not to use too much pressure because the holes will go all the way through the dough and cause sauce to seep into the holes and make a mess. The light punctures in the dough from the fork will be enough to stop any air from forming those awkward bubbles.

Can I make this recipe vegetarian?

Absolutely! You can omit the chicken altogether, or use a meat replacement instead to still give you a similar texture. Common replacements include tofu or Jackfruit, as they are both full of flavor and will absorb the flavor of your buffalo sauce. You can also add extra vegetables like olives, peppers, or mushrooms if you want to give your pizza more dimension and taste!

How to Serve and Store Buffalo Chicken Pizza

Buffalo chicken pizza can be served as a dinner any day of the week with fruit or a Caesar salad with homemade dressing. Easy homemade bread sticks would taste great with this pizza. The tangy flavors in this pizza pair well with ranch or blue cheese dressing, so feel free to drizzle some on top for extra taste.

Any leftover pizza can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days! You can keep the pizza in an airtight container, or wrap individual slices in tin foil to keep them fresh. Reheat your pizza 1-2 slices at a time in the microwave for 45 seconds, or until warm throughout and enjoy.

Expert Tips

  • I like to use Buffalo Wild Wing sauce that you can find bottled at the grocery store for this recipe, but feel free to use your favorite brand of Buffalo sauce.
  • Season your chicken before or after cooking it! You can use salt and pepper, or add some garlic powder as well. This will bring more flavor to your pizza and elevate the dish.
  • Allow the pizza to rest for a few minutes before slicing it. This will help the cheese set and make it easier to cut without the toppings falling off.
  • Using fresh mozzarella cheese takes this pizza to the next level! It will melt better and end up being more gooey than pre-shredded cheese. You can find a log of fresh mozzarella near the deli section of your local grocery store.
