Frequently Asked Questions
It is a great idea to flip the patties while they are in the air fryer, about halfway through the cooking time. This will ensure that the air fryer hamburgers are cooked evenly and have a nice sear on all sides!
Depending on how cooked you like your meat, you may need to adjust your cooking times. The best way to know that your air fryer hamburgers are cooked to your desired doneness is to check the internal temperature with a thermometer. A well done burger will be about 160°F, medium well will be 155°F, medium will be 145°F, medium rare will be 135°F, and rare will be about 120°F.
While you can put tin foil in the air fryer, it is not recommended. A large blast of hot air flows through the bottom of the basket inside the air fryer to distribute heat. If this air flow is blocked or covered, it will affect how your patties are cooked.
These hamburgers will store well in the fridge for up to 2 days. When you are ready to enjoy them again, you can simply reheat them in the microwave and serve them with your favorite burger toppings!
If you don’t have an air fryer and don’t have time to start up the grill, there’s no need to worry! You can still enjoy these tasty burgers by baking them in the oven. To do this, prep your meat as explained above, then place the patties on a lined baking sheet. Bake them in the oven at 425°F for 15 minutes, or until they’re cooked to your desired temperature. Pop the finished patties onto your burger buns, garnish, and enjoy!
Expert Tips and Tricks
- If you are a cheese lover, feel free to top these air fryer hamburgers with a slice of cheddar or Swiss cheese right after they come out of the air fryer. The heat from the burgers will perfectly melt the cheese!
- Want to add a little kick to these air fryer hamburgers? Try mixing up what spices you use! I like seasoning the ground beef with a garlic and herb steak seasoning.
- For perfect, evenly cooked burgers, you can press your thumb slightly into the center of each patty before placing them in the air fryer. This will prevent them from swelling in the center while cooking.
- You can use any type of ground beef in this recipe, but I particularly like 90/10 or 85/15 beef. Each of these blends will give you a juicy, but not too greasy burger.
