Fried onions are a crunchy topping that enhances the flavor of various dishes, from burgers to soups. Easy to make and they really pack a punch.
Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot over medium-high heat, ensuring there's enough oil to submerge the onions.
Thinly slice the onions into rings or strips while the oil heats.
Carefully add a small batch of sliced onions to the hot oil (350°F) using a slotted spoon, avoiding splattering.
Fry the onions in batches for about 3-4 minutes per batch until golden brown and crispy. Stir occasionally for even frying.
Drain excess oil on paper towels, sprinkle with a pinch of salt while hot, and let them cool before using.
