Recipe FAQs
Fluffernutter usually refers to a sandwich made from the delicious combination of marshmallow fluff and peanut butter. Fluffernutter cookies take the sandwich to a new level by making it a cracker sandwich and dipping them in melted chocolate.
I recommend using creamy peanut butter so the sandwiches hold together better. Either natural or conventional peanut butter would work in these cookies. If you use natural peanut butter, be sure to stir it really well so the oil is incorporated.
Yes. Use a gluten-free round cracker and double check that the other ingredients you’re using are gluten-free.
Expert Tips
- Stock up on holiday sprinkles after Christmas when they are all half off (because they don’t really go stale).
- Feel free to make these for any occasion by changing the color of sprinkles or omit the sprinkles and drizzle some melted white chocolate over them.
- You can use almond bark to dip these in which works great, but Ghirardelli makes delicious melting chocolate wafers that come in milk, dark, and white chocolate.
- Let your little ones help with the sprinkles and bigger kids can spread the peanut butter and marshmallow fluff mixture on the crackers and assemble the sandwiches.

Notes
- Ghirardelli’s melting chocolate wafers are the best for dipping treats. They come in milk, dark, and white chocolate.
- I made these in the regular Ritz size and the mini snack size – both turned out great.
- If you don’t want to add sprinkled, you could drizzle some white chocolate on top once the milk or dark chocolate has set.
- Store these cookies for three days on the counter or in the fridge for up to a week.
These are so easy and good! They are perfect for Christmas treat plates. The first time I had these was at a cookie exchange. I have been making them ever since.
I hadn’t heard of these and I just made them tonight with white chocolate. I think they’re good and my peanut-butter-loving boyfriend thinks they’re fantastic. Thank you!
We had friends visiting us today, from back home and from Germany, so I put together a couple dozen of these last night in no time. I use smooth peanut butter, no marshmallow fluff, on the cracker and dip it in chocolate bark just like you did. I have also made them dipped in white bark and they are even more holiday looking on the tray with red and green sprinkles on that white bark.
